Video Production Agreement

The reality is that these are areas that you probably miss because they are not fun; they don`t have the sizzle, pop and glamour that recording a video has. There are countless tutorials on YouTube about how to make a video or how to become a filmmaker. You can literally go to school at Google and YouTube University and learn how to make a movie and be a good filmmaker without ever losing a penny in film school – but to really grow up, you have to learn how to negotiate budgets. In the last 13 years that we have run a production company, we have only had to use our contract twice to clarify things. If we did not have a contract, we would not be in business today. So if you`re the run and gun videographer or the video-girl or casual type, which means you have a budget you have to work with: it`s your client`s budget, and after taking the cost of creating this video for the client, you have your gross earnings that cover your running costs and costs. We could respond in a later contribution (the difference between gross profit and net profit). Death – what will happen to the agreement if one of you dies?! As the basis of any good contract, you need to list the resources and information you need to provide your video production project. You should also make it clear who is responsible for what and when you need it. Here`s your bonus: to make it easier for you, I`ll share the contract I use with my video customers, and you can download it here (below). Bonus: Attach yourself and if you are long enough (the vast majority of you will interact for about 24 seconds before leaving), I must use a solid video contract template for you at the end of this article. It`s a tool I`ve developed for many hours, many and many years of rookie mistakes to decipher all the numbers you need to give your client in the first conversation for 90% or more of your jobs you do, from a wedding to a slideshow to a corporate video to a church video to a crowdfunding video – it covered you.

If you have a contract or a Master Services Agreement if something unfortunate happens, the contract is there to determine what happens next. In general, most of them make a deal with the best of intentions, but things happen, it`s life. Standard – What happens if a party does not comply with the agreement? The other party should be able to terminate the contract or, if necessary, pay some form of compensation. Put everything in writing in the video you want and/or your client. Spell everything from the aspect ratio (16:9 or 4:3?) to the resolution, which services you belong to and not. There are more ideas to spell for your client here. Let`s say you`re just a « Run of the Mill » filmmaker. For you, it`s just as applicable because you have to be able to learn how to negotiate a budget and, in the end, what you are – it`s no different from what James Cameron said about being a director: a director is someone who tells a story, and at the end of the day it`s no different from what you are, because you do the same thing – you negotiate a budget to tell a story, and then you have to negotiate what your salary is. Using a standard video production contract should be a normal part of your process of working with a customer. The video production contract should be discussed and signed before work on the project begins. We have received numerous requests from independent production companies and/or cameramen regarding a standard video production agreement, and Nimia Legal provides this free model version.
